The One Thing He’s Unwilling to Do

This baby squeals and who can ignore it?  She’s hungry or sleepy or writhing in discomfort and she can’t help but cry out for help.  And I know the way forward…to earn her trust. Come to her cries each time and let her know I’ll be back again.  To fill the hungry tummy, rock the tired body, or rub the discomfort away.

I come toward the cries and cry for her to trust me.  I come toward her cries and remember this: that Christ comes to mine.

Then Jesus called his disciples to him and said, ”I have compassion on the crowd because they have been with me now three days and have nothing to eat. And I am unwilling to send them away hungry, lest they faint on the way.”  Matthew 15:32

With every swallow, she eats her way to trust. And when I cry to Him, He’s not willing to leave me there waiting and wailing.  He refuses to send me away hungry.  Trick is, I’ve got to cry out.  Got to go to Him.  Stay with Him.  Got to tell Him I’m hungry.

I feed her and ask her to trust me.  And I hear Him asking, ‘But, do you trust me?’

I ask for grace, for all of us, to cry to Him and see Him break His body in thanks and learn to trust a bit more.  Ask that when we come and call to Him, we’d believe He’s unwilling to do anything less than let us eat and be satisfied.
