The Best Handmade Gifts this Season

December 2, 2011

in Everyday Lessons,Psalms

You might be hoping for a long scarf, maybe some new coasters or a scrumptious Christmas pie, but the best handmade gift was crafted a long time ago for you.

This, THIS, “THIS is the DAY that the Lord has made, let us {me and you} rejoice in it.”  Psalm 118:24

Each hour, each minute, each second of today was handmade especially for you by the One who made you special.  Each laugh and each tear; each moment of stress and hour of ease; each challenge and each rest…all of it was crafted in God’s hands for-YOU.

So, if you’re like me, one who loves handmade presents and also loves to open presents right away, then open up the gift of today.  Consider each moment a present, a reassurance of His presence, a means by which He’s working for your good and His glory.

The more we see His hand in all these moments, the more we see the scars in those hands.  For what is our good and His glory but more of Christ Himself?  All these handmade minutes are meant to draw us to Christ’s beauty and conform us to His image.  And before long, the gifts He’s made for us make us into a gift for the world.

When you open your handmade gift in the moment, your hands can make gifts that no scarf or sweet pie can rival.

Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!  2 Corinthians 9:15
