I hope you’ve been following the Beautiful Jesus series, if not, read up before reading on. This is based on a sermon by Jonathan Edwards about the excellent diversities found in Jesus. So far, we’ve looked at how diverse Jesus was in his birth, and his life and death. Now, this week’s post is about Jesus’ diversity as He is exalted in heaven.

Jesus is a Lion in Heaven
- He appears in glory and majesty in heaven, like a lion.
- He is exalted as King of Heaven and Lord of the Universe. He sits at the right hand of God.
- Every knee in heaven bows to Him.
Jesus is a Lamb in Heaven
- He still appears in his human nature, like a sacrificed lamb.
- He is the most humble of all creatures in heaven and sees more distance between God the Father and Himself than any other creature does.
- Jesus bows his knee to intercede for his saints on earth.
Find Comfort and Strength In Jesus’ Diversity
Who else could be like Jesus? Who could be surrounded by the angels, at the right hand of God, and worshiped by all of heaven? And yet, while receiving the highest praise, remember poor helpless sinners like me and you?
Though the music of Heaven sings His praise, His ears are still tuned to hear the prayers of His saints on earth. Though He already has his place of honor, He does not forget His saints on earth. He is like a Lion, victorious over Satan and death and King of Heaven. But He is like a Lamb instructing, supplying, supporting, and comforting us.

I love the picture of the lion and the lamb. I’ve never heard it described as clearly as you did in this post. Thank you!
