New? Start Here
This blog is for you, but it’s mostly for me.
Burningbushes is based on a song I heard a few years ago. Since marriage and children, I keep waiting for that magical connection with God that I felt when I was ‘single minded.’ I can’t seem to find it. But, this song (and hopefully this blog) reminds me that God is in my everyday. There are miracles all around me if only my eyes are open to see them.
This blog is not for me to post family photos and give you updates on baby milestones (though, buyer beware, those may be included from time to time). Instead, this is a place for me (and guest writers) to encourage us all in the way of Jesus.
HOW?
- Biblical
Each post will be based on Scripture and should link to more Scripture. And Scripture is about…Jesus. The point of all this writing is to point us all to Jesus and to help us love and adore Him more.
- Practical
I realize that biblical and practical should be synonymous. Nevertheless, I sometimes leave inspiring words and think, ‘what now?’ Since I’m more of a thinker, I will fail in this area often. But, it is a top priority to keep our feet on the ground (with shoes off, of course) here at burningbushes.
- Challenging
I don’t want any more fluff. Feel good stuff is okay every now and then. But most of the time, I need a good kick in the pants. I want us all to be challenged to work harder and trust more as a result of time here at burningbushes.
- Resourceful
In each post, I hope to point you to some helpful and encouraging resources such as music, sermons, books, and other blogs. I hope this can be a place where we can share great finds and enjoy good stuff together.
- Succinct
Time is a precious commodity. So, I don’t plan to keep you here long. With links, there will be opportunities to dig deeper but the bare essentials will be there for you in the time it takes to brew a pot of coffee or boil some water-and hopefully you’ll get such a jolt that you’ll forget about that cup of joe.
- Funny
I love to laugh and many times during the day, I need a cause to chuckle. While I hope most posts turn us to prayer and reflection, I’ll try to make sure that we can laugh even in the midst of the seriousness.
So, here we go. Please join the walk through a ‘garden of a thousand burning bushes’ and invite others to come along too.
